Daticon EED Releases Major Enhancements to eDiscovery Platform, Discovery Partner 6
Foreign language support and document encoding detection capabilities highlight new release that delivers reduced eDiscovery risk and cost.
KIRKLAND, Wash. — March 30, 2009 — Daticon Electronic Evidence Discovery Inc. (www.daticon-eed.com), a leading international provider of eDiscovery services, today announced the availability of Discovery Partner 6, a significantly enhanced version of its integrated platform for eDiscovery processing, analytics, review and production. Discovery Partner 6, with the addition of several new capabilities including automated language and document encoding detection, enables large law firms and Fortune 250 corporations to review and produce documents more quickly, at a lower cost and with less risk than ever before.
Discovery Partner 6's enhanced foreign language support ensures that all responsive information is accurately identified by implementing language and document encoding detection for Unicode and non-Unicode character sets that identifies and organizes documents by language. This built-in encoding detection and subsequent text extraction capability enables users to work with Unicode and non-Unicode foreign language documents in a systematic fashion rather than being forced to use more traditional ad-hoc and out-of-band processes that disrupt the workflow.
"Just providing simple Unicode compliant support is no longer enough for a eDiscovery platform that must handle large and complex cases such as those involving Intellectual Property disputes, Antitrust, Product Liability and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act," said Dave McCann, president and CEO of Daticon EED. "Only a handful of Tier 1 platforms, such as Discovery Partner 6, can even detect foreign language documents in a corpus of evidence, and without this capability, responsive documents may not be produced. This creates the risk of violating court orders to produce a full set of responsive documents. It also makes planning for the right language skills during the review process very difficult."
In addition, the U.S. Department of Commerce and the European Commission has granted Daticon EED Safe Harbor certification, which further strengthens the company's ability to work on multi-national cases. This certification confirms that Daticon EED has taken the necessary actions to maintain personal data privacy while transferring data between the United States and the European Union and enables it to execute these transfers without the need for prior approval in most cases.
In addition to enhanced language support capabilities, Discovery Partner offers the following features that enable users to better control the cost and risk of eDiscovery:
- Increased efficiency for native and mixed production: Discovery Partner increases automation and efficiency for native and mixed production set creation without the need for specialty programming by using a new, configurable production management application.
- Lotus Notes 8 processing support enhancements: By natively processing all versions of Lotus Notes, including the recently released version 8, and supporting non-email Lotus Notes databases, Discovery Partner now offers the most comprehensive eDiscovery processing suite available today for Lotus Notes data. The ability to process these files natively without having to convert them to other formats reduces the possibility of losing metadata or other important evidence while simultaneously reducing cost and review turnaround times.
- Secure Evidence Review workplace: Discovery Partner offers a fast and secure workplace that eliminates the latent period and security concerns inherent to downloading documents from the Web to a desktop.
In conjunction with Discovery Partner's existing accelerated review features—such as review-based highlighting, CompareVue relational review micro clustering, and the Discovery Partner eXcellence (DPX) integrated project management and tracking portal—the addition of enhanced foreign language support provides clients with the most efficient review capabilities on the market today.
"Together with our previous Discovery Partner production enhancements, including capabilities to systematically guard against the inadvertent production of privileged materials and automatically convert appropriate documents into images early in the review cycle, Discovery Partner 6 has set a new standard for document review, production speed and accuracy," said McCann. "This, combined with our Discovery Partner eXcellence (DPX) online portal for integrated project management workflow and tracking, makes Daticon EED a one-stop shop for law firms and corporations of any size needing to cut eDiscovery costs while still maintaining the highest level of accuracy in review and production cycles."
